Founded in 2002, Brent Patterson Oakford Consulting helped launch the practice of investor relations and financial communications. Now in our fourth decade as an independent investor relations firm, we are led by a seasoned team of professionals with over 30 years of aggregate experience. We combine knowledge of capital markets communications, and an unparalleled reputation for integrity and client service with evolving industry best practices to design and execute investor relations programs that help deliver long-term stakeholder value. No magic wands, no smoke and mirrors, no special sauce - just hard work, tangible results, and a respect for management's time.
Our Guiding Principles.
At the root of our long client relationships are these guiding principles:
We will perform our due diligence on every potential client, and assess the opportunities and challenges specific to that company.
We will commit a senior executive (at least 10 years of experience) to every client.
We will not overpromise what we can deliver. We will work together to customize an approach that best addresses each company's specific goals, and revise our strategy as necessary.
We will not steer clients towards programs or events unless they advance our shared goals.
We will disagree with clients on occasion, and offer alternative approaches that we believe provide the best return on management's time and capital investment.
Client Focused, Results Driven
Brent Patterson Oakford Consulting has assumed the investor relations function for companies in diverse industries and at various stages of development. Because no two companies are alike, and companies change over time, we design and implement programs that are tailored to specific needs, management philosophies, and desired outcomes.
For most clients, we serve as an outsourced investor relations department – a virtual “office down the hall.” For larger companies with an IRO or similar internal capabilities, we provide an array of support services including positioning, drafting various forms of investor communications, arranging investor meetings and analyst days, conducting perception studies, and managing communications during crises.
Extraordinary Level of Commitment & Service
We invest the time early on to understand each client's distinct business, markets, drivers, culture and philosophy, enabling us to forge successful working relationships. We are professional and meticulous in every aspect of our services, and make every effort to exceed client expectations.
We Speak the Language
Investor relations is a distinct discipline that integrates finance, communication, marketing and securities law compliance, with a real world understanding of the capital markets. Reflecting the background and experiences of our founder and senior staff, The Equity Group's approach to the practice of investor relations is rooted in finance. From client evaluation to assessing historical and future operating performance, we understand the language of business and the culture of professional investing.
Communication is Currency
We recognize that the ability to effectively reach investors and communicate the story - be it growth, value, turnaround, market leadership, disruptive technology, etc. - in an impactful and consistent manner can significantly influence how a company is perceived and how its securities are valued.
Optimized Investor Outreach
We conduct ongoing, targeted outreach to the investment community, and arrange meetings for clients with relevant analysts and investors. We secure invitations to present at reputable investment conferences, organize on-site investor days, and work with analysts to optimize the non-deal roadshows their firms arrange for our clients. The end result: effective, centralized investor outreach programs that make the most productive use of management's time.
Senior Hands-On & Accessible
Clients work directly with a senior member of our team with at least ten years of investor relations experience. We know that things happen outside typical work hours and we are available when needed around the clock.
We provide our clients a monthly summary of activities, and periodic detailed reports covering contact work. Equity Group associates also keep weekly timesheets.
